This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for December 30, 2008:
the last thing i smiled about was just a few moments ago, when i thought about smiling last night while looking at the orion nebula (m42). :D.. lol
I am also smiling again as i type, as i think about the couple of young children of the neighbors, who got their very first view through a telescope last night. =-)
it was amazing to see the looks on their faces, and their fascination when i explained to them what they were looking at. :D
priceless.
i believe we may have 2 new astronomers in our world, friends. lol
beauty. =-)

edit: ohh, cool pic i found of kids at a scope! lol O="====I :)

That’s beautiful Andy. Nothing like children and their innocent lil faces filled with that awe and fascination when they see something new or learn something.
Makes me smile just thinking about it! And thinking of you showing it to them…
:)
Just beautiful.

thanks Val!! :)
yeah, seeing their faces like that was very very cool, and I got the vibe that they were feeling the sense of awe and magic and wonder that i have been strangely feeling again lately…. (not sure if this is the proper word), but the only word that comes to mind is “nostalgia”…though i guess im not exactly sure what that feeling feels like… but lately i have felt like a small child again…. the smallest, most simplest things fascinating me, a feeling like i am just learning (again, for like the 3rd or 4th time) everything all over again, and how exciting it is to know that your going to be learning new things soon… I dunno……… I just really feel the way we do when we are small children….
with everything being whimsical and magical and like anything you can possibly fathom, is possible. (not so far from the truth). Feelings I remember well, feelings that we all forget to let surface from time to time. Seems this time though.. they have surfaced and are staying afloat. lol :D

Well, Andy…those are the just some of the qualities that I love in you! You always have a bit of that awe and wonder and innocence and whimsy about you.
And children…that’s why I LOVE children - they help you remember those things..escape into that world of wonder and magic and awe and feel that nostalgia for childhood. I’m sad not having small children around here anymore - I loved having that whimsical environment in my house all the time.
I’m glad you’re feeling this way, and that it’s sticking with you. It’s a wonderful way to feel. And much better than those dark feelings we can allow to creep in from time to time!
You’re a beautiful person Andy!
